Learn how to install and set up Cursor on your machine

System Requirements

Before installing Cursor, make sure your system meets the following requirements:

Windows

  • Windows 10 or later
  • 64-bit processor
  • 4GB RAM minimum
  • 1GB available disk space

macOS

  • macOS 10.15 (Catalina) or later
  • Intel or Apple Silicon processor
  • 4GB RAM minimum
  • 1GB available disk space

Linux

  • Ubuntu 18.04 or later
  • RHEL 8 or later
  • 4GB RAM minimum
  • 1GB available disk space

Download and Install

  1. Visit cursor.sh and click the "Download for Windows" button
  2. Run the downloaded installer (.exe file)
  3. Follow the installation wizard instructions
  4. Launch Cursor from the Start menu or desktop shortcut

Initial Setup

After installing Cursor, you'll need to complete the initial setup:

  1. Launch Cursor
  2. Sign in with your Cursor account or create a new one
  3. Choose your preferred theme (light or dark)
  4. Select your preferred keyboard shortcuts
  5. Configure AI settings (optional)

Troubleshooting

Installation Issues

If you encounter issues during installation, try the following:

  • Make sure your system meets the minimum requirements
  • Close any other applications that might be using resources
  • Try downloading the installer again
  • Run the installer as administrator (Windows) or with sudo (Linux)

Startup Issues

If Cursor doesn't start properly, try the following:

  • Restart your computer
  • Check for updates to Cursor
  • Reinstall Cursor
  • Check the logs for error messages
