Learn how to install and set up Cursor on your machine
System Requirements
Before installing Cursor, make sure your system meets the following requirements:
Windows
- Windows 10 or later
- 64-bit processor
- 4GB RAM minimum
- 1GB available disk space
macOS
- macOS 10.15 (Catalina) or later
- Intel or Apple Silicon processor
- 4GB RAM minimum
- 1GB available disk space
Linux
- Ubuntu 18.04 or later
- RHEL 8 or later
- 4GB RAM minimum
- 1GB available disk space
Download and Install
- Visit cursor.sh and click the "Download for Windows" button
- Run the downloaded installer (.exe file)
- Follow the installation wizard instructions
- Launch Cursor from the Start menu or desktop shortcut
Initial Setup
After installing Cursor, you'll need to complete the initial setup:
- Launch Cursor
- Sign in with your Cursor account or create a new one
- Choose your preferred theme (light or dark)
- Select your preferred keyboard shortcuts
- Configure AI settings (optional)
Troubleshooting
Installation Issues
If you encounter issues during installation, try the following:
- Make sure your system meets the minimum requirements
- Close any other applications that might be using resources
- Try downloading the installer again
- Run the installer as administrator (Windows) or with sudo (Linux)
Startup Issues
If Cursor doesn't start properly, try the following:
- Restart your computer
- Check for updates to Cursor
- Reinstall Cursor
- Check the logs for error messages
